Prime Minister Anthony Albanese joined Fifi, Fev & Nick live in-studio and discussed his views about Australia becoming a republic, in light of his attendance at the King’s coronation.
Anthony Albanese On Australia Becoming A Republic:
“Do you think there will be another Australian prime minister at a coronation?” host Brendan Fevola asks.
“At some stage i think there will be another vote on the republic at some stage, but the prime minister will still go, because we’d still remain in the Commonwealth”
“There’s 57 Commonwealth countries, but there’s only 15 that are part of the realm that have the King as the Head Of State”
“I’m a republican, I think we will make that decision to have an Australia as Head Of State, but we’ll stay in the Commonwealth – it’s an important part of our history”
