In today’s KICBUMP episode, we hope to shed a light on something that sadly affects many women in our community; coping with an eating disorder during pregnancy or postpartum. Even for someone who has experienced this in the past, pregnancy can be an extremely triggering time given the changes that occur to your body, so in today’s episode we provide important information and support for those struggling, along with hearing personal stories from those who have come out the other side.
Steph “I was never diagnosed with an eating disorder, however I had eating disorder patterns, habits, thoughts, I had a horrible relationship with exercise and with food and my body image was just at an all time low in my early 20s.”
We have Danni Rowlands from The Butterfly Foundation giving helpful advice to anyone who needs it, and Steph shares her own personal experience with an undiagnosed eating disorder in her early 20s.
“Like when I was thinking about going through pregnancy and having a kid the thought did pop up in my mind of like is my body going to ‘bounce back’.”
