Katherine Knight, or ‘Lady Leatherface’, was the first woman in Australia to be sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Knight left school at age 15, never having learned to read or write. The next year, she landed her ‘dream job’ cutting up offal at an abattoir.

A warning: This articles contains descriptions of graphic violence, and murder
Knight had a series of violent relationships. She tried to strangle her first husband on their wedding night and later abandoned her newborn daughter on a railway line.
In February 2000, a violent argument led to Knight chasing her then-boyfriend through their house with a butcher’s knife.
Knight stabbed him 37 times. Several hours after he died, Knight skinned Price’s body and hung the skin from a meathook in the living room.
She then decapitated Price and cooked parts of his body with baked vegetables and gravy.
Knight then set the table, placing name cards with Price’s children’s names next to each plate.
The scene was discovered by a neighbour the next morning. The pot was still warm on the stove.
