Cartel insider: How a dog handler corrupted border security

The ‘dirty dog handler’ was a border control agent who sold his soul to the Mexican cartel.

Former FBI agent Kenneth Strange Jr spent a long time investigating the dog handler, trying to find evidence that he was a narco.

“There was a lot of chatter about this dog handler, that he may be involved with the cartels in El Paso. I found out everything I could about the guy, but he was very clever,” Strange said.

FBI Agent Ken Strange tells the full story on Crime Insiders:

By day, the man was a government employee working for border security. But by night, he was a narco, allegedly corrupted by the cartel in El Paso.

“He had one of the best dogs in the southwest. He’d go out and he’d take down other drug dealers. But not his drug dealers,” Strange said.

Strange gathered witness accounts, deployed undercover police and eventually came face to face with the man himself.

What did witnesses say?

One day, the man and his dog disappeared from the border checkpoint for around six hours. That’s when border security was met with a woman who drove to the checkpoint with cocaine in her car. A large truck soon followed behind her.

Strange said she was told by drug dealers that she’d be waved through the checkpoint by the man with a dog.

“Of course, it didn’t happen like that… She got pulled out, and now she’s arrested. And as she’s being arrested, this huge truck came through, and she looked up, and the guy laughed at her and just kept going.”

“And she said, ‘oh, god, I’ve been played. You know, this was – I’m the diversion. I’m the scapegoat here.’ So she said, ‘I’m pointing out this, canine guy. It’s him. He’s involved.’“
