Westpac, alongside its subsidiary banks—St George, Bank of Melbourne, and BankSA, issued an apology for the ongoing problems.
“We’re aware that customers are experiencing further issues accessing online and mobile banking.”
Despite initially claiming services had been restored at 4pm on Tuesday, Westpac’s outage extended into the next day.
The incident first began around 2pm on Tuesday, with Down Detector logging over 3,400 reports of issues.
A further surge was reported at 8pm this morning, with nearly 1,500 additional complaints.
“Three days in a row that access has been suspended. People rely on online banking for rent and bills,” one of Westpac’s clients posted online.
Other customers have demanded clarity on the cause and compensation for the disruption.
This incident comes on the heels of a similar outage affecting NAB customers earlier this year.
